Barbara Leah Meyer
Vocalist, pianist, educator, songwriter and recording artist Barbara Leah Meyer has been a dynamic member of the Canadian and European music scenes for many years. She has entertained a variety of audiences across Canada and throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and the Middle East as a solo artist, in ensembles and as a guest vocalist with big bands and symphony orchestras.
Career highlights include performances with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Krimm Orchestra in Yalta, Philharmonic Suedwestfalen and the European Philharmonia Baden Baden, a United Nations tour to the Middle East, jazz festivals in Italy and Canada Day celebrations in Istanbul and Ankara.
Barbara has released and co-produced numerous CDs. She was honoured to have been selected as Female Vocalist of the Year at the 1992 ARIA (Alberta Recording Industry Association) Awards.
Barbara is greatly experienced in the art and science of vocal pedagogy. She taught jazz vocals at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule, at the FMW / Frankfurter Musikwerkstatt and has conducted numerous workshops and master classes in Germany and Canada for many years. She is active as a vocalist, pianist, voice and piano teacher, performance coach, and is a certified (RYT500) yoga instructor.
