FAQs
Club REOWhen is the best time to enjoy a Club REO vacation?
Club REO is offered July and August when weather and river conditions are ideal. Our hot summer days are cooled by the river for perfect summer time camping, and activities. Summer highs in July and August average 85 degrees F or 29 degrees C. In 2005 and 2006, our resort hit a record high of 41 degrees C (perfect time for a plunge into the cool and clear Nahatlatch River!)
Family
What is the best rafting trip for my teenagers?
We recommend the Nahatlatch Classic in July and August. The Nahatlatch is usually very high between mid-May and mid-June as a result of melting snow or rain in the mountains. We recommend the Thompson River for family rafting trips in late-August and September.
What is your minimum age for whitewater rafting trips?
Our minimum age varies by river and water levels. As a guideline, youth ages 10 and over can do most of our whitewater rivers. Paddlers must be 14 years of age to do our more difficult rivers with Class 4 or 5 rapids. This includes the Nahatlatch Canyon, Meatgrinder section of the Nahatlatch, and the Stein.
What is available for children 6-9?
We offer a Kids Camp for children ages 6-9 and their parents during our Club REO season. Activities for younger children include hiking, into to rock climbing, intro rock rappelling, treasure hunts, and other Kids Camp activities including rock painting and crafts. On our rafting trips with children, we use oar rafts and our most senior guides to run these trips and we only raft Class 2 and 3 rapids (we do not allow children to do Class 4 rapids). We also offer the scenic float trip on the Fraser River, which has no rapids, but is a good introduction to paddling.

Resort
Can we bring our dogs and pets to REO?
Generally we do not like people to bring their pets. Some people are scared of animals and we like our guests to feel comfortable. In rare situations, REO will let a guest bring a small dog or other pet to REO providing they are kept out of the dining area, are well behaved and kept under control by the owners. Please call the office to discuss before showing up with a pet.
Can we bring RVs and tent campers to REO?
Yes, you can bring your RVs and campers. We do not have hook ups for your RV and require that all vehicles pulling trailers be equipped with four-wheel drive as our driveway is very steep.
Can I swim in the river at camp?
No. Swimming near the resort is dangerous as the river is fast and cold. But we have a nice private beach for lounging and relaxing at the waters edge.
Can we buy snacks and souvenirs?
Yes, we offer soft drinks, juice, water, chocolate bars, snacks and clothing for sale in our retail shop in the Trading Post. Our clothing for sale includes t-shirts, hats, fleece tops, shorts and shirts with the REO logo. We carry top brands including O'Neill and North Face. We also sell essentials such as flashlights and personal hygiene items.
Will my trip be photographed?
We contract a professional photography company, Down Time, to take action shots as you head through the biggest rapids of the day. All guests that raft in June, July or August will receive a free photo CD of their rafting trip. Digital CDs are produced and will be ready for you after the trip. Photographs can also be ordered and will be mailed to you within a few days of your rafting trip.
Do I need extra money? Credit cards? ID?
You must bring photo ID for check in. We accept cash, MC, Visa, debit and travelers cheques at the resort for retail purchases and rentals. We do not accept American Express at this time.

No, REO does not have regular telephone service. We have a radio-telephone number for emergencies, which is (604) 867-9500. Cell phones do not work anywhere in the Fraser Canyon. The last decent cell phone reception is in Hope BC, 85 KM south of REO.
