Rafting the Nahatlatch canyon is an intense adrenaline rushing addition to the Classic Run. The steep-walled canyon creates an exciting ride as each bend in the river reveals a new surprise.

In just 3 Km (2 miles), the river cascades through 12 incredible rapids, including several ledge drops. Most of the rapids are Class 4, with one Class 5 section that starts at the Nozzle rapid and continues downstream through Big Jack and Hump and Bump. Average gradient in the canyon is 95 feet/mile.

Our August departures through the canyon are typically run as a fast blast from Meatgrinder right through the canyon. The fast blast features 37 rapids over a 12 Km (7 mile) stretch of river! As the river level drops in the late-summer heat, the canyon may be offered as a double run leaving right from the eddy below our dining deck.

Our canyon season can start in late-July and usually runs into mid-September. Our minimum age to raft the canyon is 15 years. All paddlers must be in good physical condition with strong swimming ability.

Best rapids: Big Jack, the Nozzle, Final Exam, Hump & Bump and 8 more Class IV rapids!
