REO Rafting Overview:
The Nahatlatch is one of the best commercially run Daytrip rivers in the world. It is located on the east side of the Coast Mountains in southwestern British Columbia. Our season is generally from May to September. with the busiest months being July and August. The reservations office is in Port Moody, BC and the resort and river are near Boston Bar, in the Fraser Canyon, which is about 3 hours from the Vancouver area.
The rafting season in BC is hectic. All the staff gets very busy assisting and entertaining clients. There are few opportunities to take time off. During lower traffic periods, employees may be asked to perform tasks unrelated to those defined by their positions. REO's clientele come from all parts of the world and expect the trip of a lifetime. It is the duty of the staff to make this dream come true. It must be understood that the pressure of the job can get intense. All employees are expected to put the client first and be available to them at all times. Qualified applicants must also be personable individuals who are capable of intelligently conversing with the clients and must be able to give them an unforgettable experience.
REO Rafting is a multi-cultural company. Generally less than half of the staff is Canadian as REO draws much international talent each season. | Head Chef/Kitchen Manager - Early & Prime season contracts available |
| Location - REO Resort, Nahatlatch Valley. Prime season contract - full-time, June 25 to August 30 (+/- 2 weeks). This position will require running all aspects of kitchen operations, including preparing meals for different sized groups, managing & scheduling kitchen staff, maintaining a healthy & safe kitchen, and placing food orders. Prior experience cooking for large groups or in camps is helpful. Early season contract - May 7 to June 24. Same as above but less workdays per week (estimated 25 workdays). Apply by April 30, 2010. REO is looking for seasonal, part-time safety kayakers & guides who live in the lower mainland, Whistler or Okanagan who are willing to come up and guide during our busy times from May through mid-September. Must have at least 2 seasons raft guiding or kayaking experience, minimum of standard first aid or equivalent certification, level C CPR and be fluent in English. Other useful skills & certifications include level 1 or 2 Rescue 3 Whitewater Rescue Technician certification, valid class 5, 4 or 2 BC drivers license and more advanced first aid. Must have wilderness first aid, OFA or equivalent certification (min 40 hrs), CPR C, have minimum 3 years guiding experience, trip leading experience, level 1 Rescue 3 Whitewater Rescue Technician certification or higher, valid drivers license (prefer class 2 bus license), and be fluent in English. Academic degree in physical education, outdoor recreation and/or tourism will be assets. Pay rate will depend on qualifications, experience and certifications. Includes room & board.
