Senior Rafting Guides

When deciding which rafting company to choose, the single most important factor to consider is the quality of the guides and river staff. More than price, more than the number of rapids, more than location. Since choosing a rafting company by its guides is so important, we have devoted a whole section of our site to introduce our guides and river staff.

Our fondest memories will come from your staff.  These were the friendliest people.  They weren't employees, you could tell they loved doing their job.  They were so down to earth and funny.

3 Reasons Why REO Guides are the Best in the Business

REO has operated for 28 years under the same ownership and management. REO's founder and President, Bryan Fogelman, sets very high standards for his guides and river staff. Bryan hand picks each of his guides, is involved in training and professional development programs, and still personally guides over 25 trips each year because he loves the river. When you get in a raft with a REO guide, you know you will be in good hands with a talented, personable and fun river guide.

2. The River is Our Home

You can feel the excitement of the river 24 hours a day. Even when our guides get a well-deserved day off they frequently spend it boogie boarding or kayaking. Their passion for the river is addictive.

As our guest, you will get the full force of that passion and experience. You will see the river from a whole new perspective, and quite possibly, enjoy one of the best days of your entire summer.

3. More Senior Staff

Many rafting companies suffer from high staff turn-over and employ a high percentage of junior guides. REO, on the other hand, is a magnet for very experienced river guides. Why do our guides comewhitewater rafting bc river raft Vancouver senior guides safety back year after year? The Nahatlatch River, home to our adventure resort, is a big reason. As a guide, nothing is sweeter than a river that offers non-stop Class 4 action from beginning to end. Our guides love the challenge of the river. Second, REO offers work on a wide range of rivers including the Class 5 Stein River, the steepest commercially rafted river in Canada. REO is the only company permitted by the BC government to run the Stein, an excellent endorsement of our safety and operating standards. Third, REO looks after its guides. More than just a job, we give our guides an incredible place to live and an amazing lifestyle. We provide a personal chef to prepare great-tasting and nutritious meals, resort jobs during our off-season to help balance budgets, and recognition for jobs well done.

REO offers whitewater guide schools for rafting and kayak guides, typically in June. Our guide school includes whitewater paddle raft and oar rafting, and Rescue 3 WRT certification. White water guide training takes place primarily on the Nahatlatch, but we also use the Thompson, Nicola, Coquihalla and Fraser rivers depending on water levels. Whitewater raft guide training is the ultimate outdoor job! REO is located in British Columbia Canada near Vancouver BC, Whistler BC, Kelowna BC, and Bellingham and Seattle Washington in the USA.
